Review Redo: Chasing Graves

Recently the Self-Published Fantasy Month Team posted a list of some self-published fantasy recs for those who have not read much self-published fantasy and don’t know where to start with finding a good book to read. Our hope was to offer up a few suggestions each while admitting the list would leave out a bunch of great books and authors. I hate leaving out great stories so I decided to re-post the reviews of all the self-published fantasy books I’ve really enjoyed over the last few years. Over the coming days and weeks I’ll be re-posting them here in the lead up to Self-Published Fantasy Month. My hope is you might find one that catches your interest for September!

Book Haul: December 2019

It’s been an age since I last posted about a book haul. Like…(checks calendar)…all the way back to June. I’d hoped to post about my new books a bit more often last year and didn’t do that. Obviously.

One of my blogging goals for 2020 will be to be more intentional about Book Haul posts. I’m aware that it’s possible nobody cares about the books I’ve bought or received, but I kinda like when bloggers post these because it not only puts new books in front of my eyeballs that I might not be aware of, but they also give me an idea of the blogger’s tastes. For my purposes a Book Haul post can include any book I’ve come to possess, not just those I buy, so arcs requested or just sent from publishers will be listed as well.

Today I have four books to show you from December. The first two I found on my doorstep recently, one I picked up after seeing it on Twitter, and the other I bought from the bookstore.

Self-Published Fantasy Month 2019 Recap

Self-Published Fantasy Month 2019 is over. While I admit I’m a little sad about that fact, I must also say I was pleased with how it went, mostly because unlike last year I was able to finish it. Here’s a quick recap of the month.

Month In Review: June 2019

Well June is at an end and it’s time for another review post. I didn’t do one for May so this will actually be a combined two-month in review post.

Let me start by saying things have been going a little slow here at Off The TBR. I kinda fell into a reading slump and I’m not sure why. It isn’t that I haven’t been wanting to read as much, I just have been reading at a slower pace. Some of that may be due to my son’s baseball schedule and being tired from work, but I don’t think those are big reasons. It really started in April just before the D.C. field trip with my youngest and I just slowed down after that. Can’t really explain it. Instead of my goal of reading and reviewing one book a week (roughly four a month), I’ve been closer to two reviews a month the last couple months.

Ben Galley Blog Tour: Chasing Graves Review

I was contacted back in April about participating in a crazy blog tour event hosted by TheWriteReads. Over 100 bloggers reading and reviewing one of four books by independent fantasy author Ben Galley. I chose Chasing Graves as it had been on my list of want to read titles since it was published and I figure this was a great opportunity to knock it out. I was sent a copy of this book by TheWriteReads as part of this blog tour. Now…Let’s jump right in…
