Let me say at the outset that I haven’t read this book. I knew when I signed up for the tour with Storytellers On Tour that I wouldn’t have time to read it before the event began, but I REALLY wanted to take part. Why you ask? Well, not long before the sign-up request went out I’d read a really positive review of the book that made me put it on my want list. It just sounded so damn cool. So when the request went out for tour roadies I decided I’d have to join in some way even if I couldn’t read and review it just yet.

So instead of a review today I’ve got something that may entice you a little bit too…

Book Review: Chaos Vector

Chaos Vector, Megan E. O’Keefe’s second offering in The Protectorate series is maybe more exciting than Velocity Weapon! The badass characters, thrilling action, sentient AI spaceships, politics, moral questions, they’re all here with the tempo cranked up a bit. Oh…and did I mention plot twists? Yeah, they’re back too. So strap in and lets talk about what has become one of my favorite new sci-fi series.

Book Review: Nophek Gloss

Nophek Gloss is one of the most imaginative books I’ve read this year. It’s an epic, vivid, diverse, and at times brutal foray into interlocking themes of family, justice, and revenge.

Book Haul Post: August 2020

 

It’s time for another Book Haul post. One of my blogging goals for 2020 is to be to be more intentional about Book Haul posts. I’m aware that it’s possible nobody cares about the books I’ve bought or received, but I kinda like when bloggers post these because it not only puts new books in front of my eyeballs that I might not be aware of, but they also give me an idea of the blogger’s tastes. For my purposes a Book Haul post can include any book I’ve come to possess, not just those I buy, so arcs requested or just sent from publishers will be listed as well.

I was having trouble getting into the right headspace to write a review *checks notes* for like the last two weeks so I decided to shift gears and write-up a book haul post instead. Which is good because I’ve been a slacker and not done one since the beginning of August (for July)! Hopefully I’ll get caught up before another two months go by. Look for the September post soon(ish).

Kit Rocha delivers an action packed post-apocalyptic dystopian romp through Atlanta and North Georgia filled with super soldier-mercenaries, evil tech companies, sweltering humidity, and sex. If any of that appeals to you gentle reader then this book may be right up your alley.

Blog Update: Award Nominee Challenge

I have quick blog update for everyone! I’ve added another menu item to the blog along with a new challenge.

The Award Nominee Challenge

A week or two ago I posted about My Nebula And Hugo Award Reading Challenge where I’m trying to read the nominees for Best Novel, Best Novella, and Best Short Story for the Nebula and Hugo Awards. Well, I’ve created a page dedicated to the challenge. In addition, I’ve created a page for another, similar challenge…to read and review all of the SPBFO5 Finalists. The goal is to read them all before the end of the year but I recognize up front that it might not happen. Ultimately the goal would be just to read them all…Some day…Before I die. I’d like to add to this list each year as the nominees/finalists are named, and maybe even do previous years if I decide to really get wild.
